BurntOut Capital

BurntOut Capital is a love letter to individual game developers and essentially a condemnation of industry practices.  Its goal was to act as a magnifier for unethical and/or inhuman practices both subtle and overt all based on personal experiences.

This version of the game was the brainchild of a game jam (Biji-Biji Initiative's Games Bagus Workshop & Game Jam 2022) in which we won third place, but more importantly, it led to us connecting with Toge Productions and we are now part of the Toge Game Fund Initiative!

The current version of the game in development is drastically different from this little apk we made (for one thing, it will be a PC game) but this love child lives on on this page and we'll most likely share dev updates of the new version soon!

What is BurntOut Capital?
You play as a Project Manager in a game development company managing a team trying to complete projects before the deadline whilst balancing your team's (the candles) work-life balance. The game aims to showcase how impossible demands & bad decisions allow crunch to sneak into a game development cycle & the human cost of complying with those terrible choices.

Controls
- drag and drop the action buttons onto the candles to tell them what to do. They'll keep performing that action, be it work, holiday or crunch until you tell them otherwise.

*Disclaimer: no candles will be burnt out while we develop this game~*
